Five contracts awarded for $696 million university campus project

A consortium of leading local, national and international architects will design the new $695 million Edith Cowan University (ECU) City Campus, with the appointment of the largest contracts to come from the $1.5 billion Perth City Deal. Architectural firm Lyons, together with Silver Thomas Hanley and Haworth Tompkins have been announced as the successful design team for the ECU City campus. The team has already started to design the ECU City Campus, which will be Western’s Australia’s first comprehensive university campus. Australian budget lends support to key real estate sectors

Australia’s national budget is set to lend further support to real estate investors, with a better-than-expected deficit announced alongside spending boosts for infrastructure, housing, aged care and childcare. Treasurer Josh Frydenberg states that the latest budget will improve finances with an expected deficit of A$161 billion (US$125 billion) in the current financial year. $215M Mitchell Freeway extension underway in WA

The $215 million Mitchell Freeway extension is underway with investigative works, geotechnical investigations and surveying being conducted. The project is expected to extend the Mitchell Freeway 5.6 kilometers north from Hester Avenue to Romeo Road and will have two lanes running in each direction. This aims to reduce congestion and improve connectivity in Perth’s north-west corridor. The project is also aiming to see a cycle network and Principal Shared Path built on the western side of the freeway.
