Construction has started for 4,500 homes as part of the Burswood Point redevelopment, supported by the Cook Government to boost housing supply in Western Australia. The initial stage includes 67 homes and 203 apartments, with future phases adding more housing, public spaces, hotels, and retail areas. The project has received $2 million from the Cook Labor Government’s $80 million Infrastructure Development Fund to support critical infrastructure, such as water and electricity connections. An $87 million contract has been awarded for the first phase of Brisbane’s 2032 Olympic Athlete Village

As part of the preparations for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, an $87 million contract has been awarded to BMD for the first phase of the Northshore Brisbane Street Renewal Program. This phase includes upgrading roadways and landscape infrastructure, with the creation of a sub-tropical boulevard with bike lanes, walkways, and lush landscaping along Macarthur Avenue. The athlete village accommodation at Northshore Brisbane will be repurposed into a variety of housing options, including market, affordable, hotel, retirement, and social housing, in addition to community, recreational, and leisure facilities following the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The contract for works on the Ocean Reef Marina Development in Western Australia has now been awarded, with Georgiou set to deliver the construction of public infrastructure. The $107 million contract comprises the delivery of public infrastructure such as boat ramps, marine walls, as well as recreational spaces. The Major East Perth project is to deliver 742 new apartments, including 242 build-to-sell apartments constructed across two 25-storey towers. The remaining 500 apartments will be the largest build-to-rent development in the State, delivered in a 15 to 37-storey development. The Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) has released its Construction Market report saying that it expects the dollar value of construction work to increase by 2.8%, generating over $256 billion of opportunities in 2022/23. Annual home prices in Australia soaring at fastest level since 1989

House prices in Australia have continued to rise and have grown by more than 20 percent compared to last year, the fastest pace since mid-1989. And while CoreLogic’s national home value index rose by 1.5 percent in September, this is just over half the rate in March. According to Research Director Tim Lawless of CoreLogic, the slowing growth conditions are caused by higher barriers to entry for non-homeowners and fewer government incentives to enter the market. Western Australia has been allocated a budget of $1.3 billion for major infrastructure projects. Prime Minister Scott Morrison stated that investments into infrastructure projects would make WA roads safer, improve public transport and reduce travel times while creating more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs across WA. The Department of Education, Skills and Employment has published the Job Vacancy data which shows higher vacancy levels for many trades than they were before the COVID outbreak. Vacancy levels for electricians, have risen for eight consecutive months and now stands at 1, 958-the highest level on record since October 2019.
