BIS Oxford Economics latest forecasts shows that the expected overall dollar value for construction work done on civil and engineering projects will surge from $88.7 billion in 2019/20 to almost $120 billion by 2022/23. The rebound is said to be driven by unprecedented levels of spending on road and rail infrastructure. The BIS expects activity on transport infrastructure to increase from $30.7 billion in 2019/20 to reach a peak of almost $50 billion by 2022/23. The project, to be built on the corner West Coast Highway and Manning Street will comprise 175 apartments in a mix of sizes atop a three-storey mixed mixed-use podium. Perth property doyen Adrian Fini and Malaysian Victor Goh have lodged plans for a 54-storey mixed-use tower to add to Perth’s skyline as part of the Elizabeth Quay redevelopment. The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority approved CA and Associates’ $85-million bid for the 4486sq m parcel of land in 2017. The consortium have now lodged plans to develop Lot 4 at Elizabeth Quay. Ocean Reef Marina full steam ahead with selection of local contractor

The McGowan Government has announced two Western Australian companies – WA Limestone and Italia Stone Group as the preferred contractors to work on the two-kilometre-long breakwaters (the longest in WA) required for the marina. Both companies, are expected to employ 56 local workers to construct the $60 million breakwaters using up to 650,000 tonnes of limestone, sourced from Development WA’s limestone quarry in Neerabup, and about 300,000 tonnes of granite. The Mitchell Extentions Joint Venture (MEJV), which consists of BMD Construction and Georgiou group, has been chosen to deliver the $215 million Mitchell Freeway Extension. The project, which is expected to create and support 1,200 local jobs and involves extending the Mitchell Freeway 5.6 kilometers from Hester Avenue in Clarkson to Romeo Road in Alkimos. The Western Australian Government has released a suite of investments under its 2020-21 State Budget which includes an overall $27 billion investment in infrastructure over the next four years.
