The World’s tallest hybrid timber tower granted approval in Perth with the project valued at $350 million.

The hybrid timber tower standing at 183 meters in height, designed by Fraser and Partners, has received development approval. The 51-story building is poised to become the tallest hybrid timber tower globally, surpassing the current record holder, Atlassian’s hybrid timber tower in Sydney, designed by Shop Architects and BVN. The project, valued at $350 million, is set to be constructed three metres taller than its predecessor. The hybrid timber tower will use 7,400 square meters of exposed timber in its construction. Western Australia’s Government shortlists proponents for High-Capacity Signalling system for the Perth urban rail network.

With Western Australia’s goal to upgrade its rail network, the government has shortlisted two proponents: Alstom Transport Australia & Downer EDI Works (ADJV) Siemens Mobility , Siemens Mobility GmbH and Wabtec Contril Systems (SafePerth) These proponents are to design, supply, build and maintain a High-Capacity Signalling (HCS) system for the Public Transport Authority. The HCS project aims to create a more modern, integrated, communications-based train control system, replacing the aging urban rail network control system in Perth. In December 2022, Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie caused major damage to the Fitzroy River Bridge, necessitating its reconstruction. The Fitzroy River Bridge Replacement project aims to construct a new two-lane bridge over the Fitzroy River, providing a pedestrian pathway, reconstructing bridge approaches, constructing flood and scour protection, and modifying utility services. Major construction has started on the METRONET New Midland Station project, a cutting-edge train station in the center of Midland, Western Australia, after development authority was granted last month. METRONET – Midland Station preferred proponent announced

Midland Junction Alliance (McConnell Dowell Constructors, Georgiou Group, Arcadis Australia and BG&E) has been chosen to deliver the new METRONET Midland Station. The project includes decommissioning and demolishing the existing 53-year-old train station and the design and construction of a new facility between Helena and Cale streets. The design will incorporate three platforms catering for up to six-cars, a publicly accessible pedestrian overpass connecting both sides of the railway, a bus interchange and cycling facilities.
