Western Australia – Best Performing State, set to attract worldwide attention, creating an even stronger economy.

Western Australia (WA) has been recognized as Australia’s best-performing economy for the September quarter, according to the CommSec State of States report. The state ranked first in five of the eight key economic indicators, including retail spending, job growth, home lending, population growth, and new home construction.

This is the third time in a decade that WA has secured the top position. Queensland moved up to second place, joining South Australia. Victoria stayed in fourth, Tasmania in fifth, while NSW and the ACT swapped places, ranking sixth and seventh. The Northern Territory remained last.

As WA maintains its lead, experts say long-term strategies are needed to ensure continued economic strength and stability.

With that in mind WA Premier Roger Cook has announced Perth will host the Men’s Rugby World Cup in October 2027, featuring seven matches, including the prestigious opening game with Australia’s Wallabies. This will be the biggest sporting event in Western Australia’s history.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

“This event means more jobs for WA, a stronger local economy, and a long-term boost to our global reputation as a sports destination.”

Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti emphasized that hosting the opening match solidifies WA’s reputation as a world-class event destination. The WA Government has also pledged millions for community sports programs and infrastructure to support local rugby development.

With the Rugby World Cup 2027 on the horizon, Perth is set to showcase its sporting excellence and attract worldwide attention, securing its place as a premier host for major international events.
